An investigation is underway into the incident in which a woman who went to lodge a complaint on Saturday night in Chittoor district Tirupati was beaten with a belt by a cop. Tirupati Urban ASC Supraja was responding to a complaint lodged by a woman that she was assaulted with a belt at the Emarpally police station by a cop. The ASP said strict action would be taken against the police officer if it was found to be true.
ASP Supraja, who was investigating the incident on the instructions of Tirupati Urban SP Ramesh Reddy, inquired about the victim. She also spoke to representatives of political parties and public associations who were concerned about the incident.
state women president Vangalapudi Anita demanded immediate suspension of the SI who attacked the woman. She was accompanied by Tirupati Parliamentary Party president Narasimha Yadav and former MLA Sugunamma to Emaar Palli station. ASP Supraj, who is investigating the incident, spoke together.
